Rami Library Summer School Begins with Its First Classes

2026-07-07

The 2026 Summer School Program organized by Rami Library, operating under the Republic of Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has officially begun with its first classes. Bringing together science, art, technology, and culture, the program offers children an enriching start to their summer holiday through learning and hands-on creativity.

On the first day of the Summer School Program, designed for children aged 9–12, participants joined workshops led by expert instructors, gaining new knowledge while developing practical skills through interactive activities.

The opening day featured Introduction to Drama, Applied Entrepreneurship, and Felt Needle Craft Workshop, all of which attracted great interest. Through drama activities, children enhanced their communication and self-expression skills, while the entrepreneurship workshop encouraged them to develop problem-solving abilities and generate innovative ideas. The day concluded with the felt needle craft workshop, where participants improved their manual skills and had the opportunity to create their own original designs.

Planned as four two-week sessions, the Summer School Program will offer participants a diverse range of hands-on workshops throughout the summer, including robotics and coding, media literacy, woodworking, ceramics, creative writing, pantomime, Ottoman Turkish, illustration, children's literature, Mesnevi readings, book production, the mathematics of music, and foreign languages.

The program aims not only to support children's academic and cultural development but also to foster communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and productivity. Designed for students who wish to make the most of their summer break, it provides a rich educational experience. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants actively engage in the learning process by reinforcing theoretical knowledge through practical application.

As Istanbul's largest library and Türkiye's first sustainable library, Rami Library continues to connect visitors of all ages with knowledge through its extensive collection, modern study spaces, and year-round cultural, artistic, and educational programs. The Summer School Program is among the library's initiatives aimed at strengthening children's connection with books while encouraging a culture of research, creativity, and lifelong learning.

The program, which began on 6 July, will continue through 28 August 2026 in four separate sessions. Each session will accommodate 25 students. At the closing ceremony, participants will receive certificates of participation, while the instructors who contributed to the program will be presented with certificates of appreciation.
